Although there is no complete cure, there are several easy and simple natural cures that can be created utilizing common ingredients found in refrigerator and pantry to minimize or prevent the skin problem. The age group that suffer the most from acne is teenagers because of the higher hormone levels in that age in the body. So let us have a look at some of the easy ways to cure acne:

Baking Soda

Sodium bicarbonate or simply said baking soda works as a gentle exfoliate for skin. It opens the pores and eliminates dead skin. It helps control the pH balance of the skin and exhibits mild antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it a remarkable home remedy for clearing acne. Just make a paste of baking soda with a little water and apply it to the acne. Let it remain on the skin for a few minutes and then rinse it off. Use this paste once or twice a week to see the results.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is beneficial in lessening acne as it cleanses skin pores and grips excess oil. Also, it exfoliates the skin. To create a paste, mix one teaspoon of honey and half lemon juice in a cup of cooked oatmeal. Apply this paste on affected area for 30 minutes and thereafter rinse with lukewarm water. This paste can be applied twice a week.

Fuller’s Earth

Fuller’s earth is good for acne prone and greasy skin as it absorbs oil without over-drying skin and opens the pores. This product can be easily found at grocery stores. Mix Fuller’s earth in equal proportions with sandalwood powder and rose water. A litter more quantity of rose water can be added to get a better paste. Once ready, apply mud pack to face and rinse it after it dries.

Lemon Juice

The acidic nature of lemon can be extremely beneficial in treating acne. Lemon will not only remove dirt that has accumulated in the skin pores but also harden the sebum. It can be applied daily on the skin, however if it is drying the skin then the use should be restricted to twice a week. To apply, just rub a slice of lemon on the acne and let it remain for a few hours before rinsing with water. It can also be mixed with rose water to create a mixture by which the affected area can be washed.

Toothpaste

One of the easiest remedies for acne is the toothpaste, which can also help minimize the acne problem. Apply toothpaste, only white toothpaste, on the affected area during night. The paste will reduce the swelling and reduce the acne. Within a couple of days the change would be visible.

Tea Tree Oil

Another home remedy for reducing acne is tea tree oil. It works like an antiseptic and cleanses the pores. Additionally, it helps remove the bacteria that lead to acne. Just apply a drop of tree tea oil to the acne thrice a day. In case if it causes irritation, dry skin or redness, then dilute tea tree oil in water or aloe vera gel.

Egg whites

Egg whites are an affordable and not to forget a convenient way to help minimize acne and remove scars left by blemishes. They are full of vitamins and proteins that combat acne and help to replenish skin cells. They absorb excess oil, which implies excess sebum and hence there is less food for bacteria to feed on. A good moisturizer should be applied after rinsing the face else the skin may dry out a bit.

Separate the whites of as many as 2-3 eggs from their yolks. Whisk the whites and apply the mixture on acne using fingertips. Apply second layer after the first layer dries and continue the same process till you are done applying at least four layers. Rinse it after 20 minutes with warm water and apply moisturizer after patting dry skin with a soft washcloth.

Papaya

Papaya is often seen as an ingredient used in many beauty products available on the market today. Instead of going and spending lot more money on those products it is better to apply plain raw papaya to get rid of excess lipids and dead skin cells.

Rinse face with water and apply the paste of papaya, leaving it on skin for at least 15-20 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water. In case the skin gets dry after the use do apply a moisturizer depending on skin type.

Orange peel paste

Some types of acne caused by bacteria may be treated with the application of an orange peel face mask. The astringent properties of vitamin C and citric acid are helpful as they help to promote the growth of healthy cells, which means the skin will rejuvenate and get acne free without much effort. Moreover, it is an inexpensive option as you will need just two orange peels and clean water.

Grind orange peels, by using a mortar and pestle, blender or whatever helps to get the job done. Add little clean water to form a paste. Take extra caution while adding water to get correct consistency. Once the right consistency is reached apply it on the affected areas. Don’t forget to wash the face before applying the paste. Wait for around 20 minutes, and then rinse off the face completely with water. Pat the face dry and then apply a moisturizer as per your skin type.
